Jul 09, 2017 · Thanks for the input, I have followed the instructions from the hills PDF, considering the slight difference between the two hoists I made some small changes to allow for a better quality line and the results appear to be where I believe it should work with a re-tension after we hang the first load, I will not be buying the cheap hoist next time.

I guess it has had no maintenance or lubrication over 50 years. The question is whether it’s possible to repair one of these older Hills hoists or whether it’s better to replace it with a new one.
